Her version:
After many months of renovations, the Ritz-Carlton had finally wrapped up its makeover with the opening of Maison Boulud. Doomie flew to Montréal on August 31 2012, in his monthly pilgrimage to see me. I was very impressed by his choice of restaurant and we spent a few minutes arguing over the pronunciation of Chef Daniel's last name. We had a quiet corner table overlooking the beautiful interior garden and shared the decadent tasting menu. Enjoying great food in exceptional locales was not a rare occurrence during our many years together, but that night felt particularly special.
Right before the meat course, Doomie pulled out a Nexus tablet and played a video for me. He had spent many hours putting together a sweet and funny slideshow of our shared moments throughout the last five years. San Francisco, Cancun, San Diego, Boston, New York, Maui: we truly had wonderful memories together from all these places. We supported each other through grad school, long-distance and many other life challenges. I could not imagine a better partner in life. I knew that committing to a life together meant moving away from Montréal, but this video and his love truly convinced me that this was an adventure I could not wait to embark on. The plesiosaurus ring sealed the deal! :)
